If you Knew Freddie, like I know Freddie — Oh, Oh, Oh what a …

Frederick Lees is a brilliant cartoonist whose art shows the genius and madness of, perhaps, the planet’s last true  Renaissance  Man.  Lees’ limitless intellectual vigor transposed into mind boggling art and “not for the smooth brained” captions places the artist on the far side of the galaxy with the likes of  Malory, Froissart, Holinished, Dryden, Heminge and Condell.  Lees, via a provocative revival of classical influences that have shaped Western civilization, brings to his work a near forgotten and irrecoverable past.   Lees, an expert in Arthurian legend and author of several books, draws mainly for his wife Marie, a sculptor, and a selected circle of friends who comprise “The Round.”  Lees is chronologically 84, physiologically 64 and psychologically 28.  He is widely traveled, thinks in multiple personas and knew Shirley McClaine when she was Mary Queen of Scots.  Freddie Lees’ talent speaks for itself.
